Structured Cabling
Voice and data cabling, structured cabling, low voltage wiring, network cables…. These are all terms used for structured cabling infrastructure. Structured cabling is the copper or fiber wiring that connects each device to a network. These cables connect your computer, phone, security cameras, wireless access points (Wifi) to your local network. These cables can also provide power to devices, such as cameras, wireless access points, phones and LED lights, using power over ethernet (PoE) technology.
Since structured cabling infrastructure is the most critical part of every local network, choosing a qualified network cabling installer is a critical decision. Quantum Communications installs every project to BICSI, TIA/EIA-568 C and IEEE standards with certified technicians.
We use high-end quality products in our structured wiring solutions, which include manufacturer warranties. Our goal is to provide our clients with a physical layer infrastructure capable of supporting all applications designed in conjunction with industry standards. By taking time to listen and study your business’s needs, Quantum Communications can install a complete turnkey network and cabling solution with full service and support during and after the installation.

Network Cabling
Category 5e
Commonly referred to as “Cat 5e” is a twisted pair cable type designed for high signal integrity. It is often used in cabling for computer networks and to carry basic voice services.
Category 6
Commonly referred to as “Cat 6” it is used to carry Ethernet 10Base-T, 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet), and 100Base-TX connections. Cat 6 cable is backed with more stringent specifications for crosstalk and system noise than in previous cabling standards.
Category 6a
Commonly referred to as “Cat6a, Cat6 Augmented or 10gig” is the latest standard for enhanced performance standards for twisted pair cable systems. Category 6a is defined at frequencies up to 500 MHz doubling the bandwidth of Cat 6. Category 6a performs at improved specifications, in particular in the area of crosstalk as compared to Cat 6 UTP (unshielded twisted pair), which exhibited high alien noise in high frequencies.
Multi-Mode Fiber
Best suited for premise applications where links are less than 3200 feet for 100 MB/s or less, 1800 feet for data rates of 1 GB/s or less, and 1000 feet for data rates of 10GB/s or less. There are two types of multi-mode fiber, 62.5 um and 50 um. Based on your needs, our team will help determine the right type for you.
Singlemode Fiber
Best suited for locations exceeding multi-mode’s distance capabilities, multi-mode’s bandwidth capability and where the application dictates single mode like video.
Cabling Framework
Open or Enclosed Data Racks/Cabinets
A cabinet or rack is a standardized system for mounting phone or data modules in a rack or “stack”. Equipment designed to be installed in a rack or cabinet is typically described as rack mount, a rack-mounted system, a rack-mount chassis, rack mountable, or occasionally simple shelf.
Patch Panels
A panel, typically rack-mounted that houses cable connections. Angled patch panels are available to help conserve space.
Vertical & Horizontal Wire Management
Providing a neat and clean appearance by managing and hiding cables and patch cords in cabinets and racks.
Above Ceiling Cable Tray System
Either basket tray or ladder rack styles are available to allow for convenient installation of current and future cabling projects.
Abandoned Cable
National Electric Code requires the removal of all abandoned cable. Quantum Communications conducts a site survey, and provides documentation and pricing to remove abandoned cable when installing new voice and data cabling.
Fiber Optic Cabling
As demands for faster data transmission rates increase, the need for fiber optic cabling has grown importantly relevant. Whether it is used as a vertical backbone for connecting networks outside of 100 meters or to link buildings across a campus, fiber optic cabling offers a modern and economical solution. All of our technicians are experienced in completing on-site terminations using fusion splicing or a variety of end point termination techniques. Wireless Networks
Here at Quantum Communications we specialize in providing wireless network design and installation services for all industries and sectors in the Tri-state area.
Wifi installations fail for many reasons. Typically, the initial design is the leading factor for negative results with a network’s wireless stability. Poor placement of wireless access points (WAPS) and inadequate network coverage are usually at the forefront of all issues.
Which is why you and your organization should always utilize experienced professionals when installing any wireless equipment.
What can I expect from Quantum Communications when they’re installing our Wireless Network?
Quantum always recommends starting with a wireless site survey. Prior to conducting our initial survey, we need to establish our clients current and future wireless goals. Will there be a need for VOIP or video streaming capabilities? If so, what system do you require and how many users will need these capabilities? How many extra client devices are likely to be present during meetings?
Next, you need to consider if you have any preference on a manufacturer of some of these devices and what their exact capabilities are. Knowing this in advance will help us provide a solution that will accommodate your needs, as well as assist with ensuring we provide network coverage that will run all devices on your network as efficiently as possible.
Depending on the type of building, and whether you already have access to the premises, we will recommend performing a site survey. During this site survey it is essential to perform a wifi heat map analysis to ensure there will be adequate coverage throughout your location. Once we’ve completed this process and agreed on moving forward with a solution, your assigned project manager will contact you to provide an overview of the project’s timeline and schedule our installation date.
Typically, we pre-configure all of our equipment in our office, prior to deploying our team to conduct the installation. Once finished, your onsite system is tested rigorously to ensure it meets all of the requested requirements.
If you have signed up for our Managed Service, then upon completion of testing all equipment with your staff, Quantum Communications will begin regularly monitoring the system to ensure everything is running optimally on your network.
Solutions Included
Point to point links – this is the wireless equivalent to running a backbone cable to join two buildings network, which would otherwise be impractical due to cost or end users needs.

Choose the right distributed antenna system that fits your budget or one that is scalable to your needs.
The majority of cell phone calls take place inside, but cell networks like AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile are outside. In-building cellular repeaters are needed because 80% of business users inside complain of poor coverage or dropped calls. A building’s materials, while improving energy efficiency, will block or inhibit cellular service from the outside network. To exacerbate the issue, cellular coverage is increasingly not optional. In fact, cellular coverage can be considered a safety or even regulatory requirement depending on the region. Building owners need a high-quality solution for bad indoor cellular signal so call us today for the solutions you need.
Finding the right DAS system integrator (Distributed antenna system for RF cellular) can be quite the daunting task for many reasons. DAS and cell phone repeater systems now have to have cellular carrier approval called rebroadcast agreements and this process normally takes months to accomplish for most end users unless proper assistance is given . The tough thing about the rebroadcast agreements is the rules and regulations are constantly changing, carriers want low pimm approved antennas and to keep the carriers separated, expensive RG8 or better copper cabling and do not want the AMP’s to be shared with other carriers. Because of all these factors when quoted by a cellular DAS system installer you need to pay attention to the fine print because some of these DAS system installation companies will try to sell you a system that will never get approval from AT&T, Verizon or Sprint. So asking your DAS integrator will this system you quoted me be able to get approval is very important. They do have a few cellular repeater systems that are already approved by the carriers but they do have limitations on the areas of cellular coverage and do not cover more than 40,000 square feet typically but with perfect conditions maybe more. Also something important to note because the carriers require approval they have the ability to say no or request changes to the proposed design to get the approval. With this knowledge if the first quote you get from your DAS system integrator isn’t a soft quote or a budgetary quote something might be wrong or misleading. So If your office or business is having bad or poor cell phone coverage please feel free to call us at Quantum Communications and we will answer any questions you have for free. If you are interested in our DAS system and cellular repeater installation services please give us a call.
